Searching for Googleplex: The Google HQ in Mountain View, CA
Considering how many Google applications were used in the research for this posting on the Google corporate headquarters in Mountain View, California, it’s a good bet the citizens of Googleplex will remain at ground zero of internet innovation for the foreseeable googolplex.
The four main buildings that make up the core of Googleplex include some interesting touches, such as a piano in the lobby and large plasma screens that display millions of live Google search queries scrolling by in real time. But don’t get too excited - they edit out the naughty stuff.
Back in the late 90s, titans of the tech boom, Silicon Graphics (SGI) and Sun Microsystems, built sprawling corporate headquarters along Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View, California near San Jose. But when the first tech bubble burst, the Sun slowly set on those former giants and the huge corporate campus sat dormant until the new kid in town, Google Inc., came along in 2006 and proceeded to transform the enormous tech-campus into the company’s new corporate home.
