FLOR Carpet Tiles

If you’re looking to replace your old carpeting, cover your existing flooring, or find something new for an addition, FLOR carpeting tiles are a new, environmentally friendly way to solve the dilemma of what to choose. There are many advantages to FLOR carpet tiles, including environmental aspects, quality design, ease of installation, and low maintenance.

Green Product and Life Cycle

FLOR is committed to helping save the planet and is working to have a zero negative impact on the environment by the year 2020, using thoughtful product manufacturing and business practices. The tiles, which are just under 20 inches square, are low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), made from recycled materials (not completely, but increasingly so), and can be returned to be recycled yet again. The company has a program that allows consumers to return the carpet tiles when they become damaged or otherwise reach the end of their use. The carpet tiles are then recycled and reused in new tiles and the company hopes that consumers will take advantage of this program so that none of their tiles ever sees a landfill.

See for Yourself -- Samples Available

For a nominal fee, prospective customers can order tile samples from FLOR to get a feel for the colors and textures of their products. The tiles range from ¼ to ½ an inch in thickness and come in a great variety of colors and patterns. When planning your new carpeting you can opt to order FLOR carpet tiles to cover an entire floor, wall-to-wall, or to create an area rug or just a runner. The tiles come with their own backing and do not need additional padding.

When it comes time to install your FLOR, you won’t even need to hire a professional; the company swears by its easy installation and says that an area rug can be laid in an hour or so by the average homeowner and a complete room can be completed in just one afternoon. The tiles come with arrows printed on the bottom to indicate how they match up to one another and every order comes with FLORdots, which are the adhesives by which the tiles adhere to one another and also create a grip to the floor. When installed properly a FLOR rug will look seamless, stay in place (although not actually glued to your under-floor), and will not curl at the corners.

Easy Installation and Removal

One of the best aspects of FLOR is that it’s easy to maintain. Regular vacuuming is all that’s needed, although the company does recommend a once-a-year cleaning with a hot water extractor or dry powder. For stains, FLOR offers its own cleaning kit, but also says stains can be treated by blotting with a white cloth. You can then remove the stained tile and run it under cool water. After you’ve treated a tile you should allow it to completely dry before placing it back on the floor. Any tile may be removed and replaced at any time, making it an ideal carpet for even the kitchen and bathroom; if moisture seeps in, all you have to do is pull it up and let it air dry and then put it back in place.

There are currently about 160 retailers across the nation, with showrooms in Santa Monica, California, and Altanta, Georgia. Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse is also a FLOR retailer and while not all of them have displays of FLOR carpet tiles on hand, they are all equipped to place orders for them.
