This Malaysian home is loaded, just like its high-profile owners. Dominating Kuala Lumpur’s residential skyline, the nearly 10,000-square foot space houses three generations of their family. Commissioned by native YTL Design Group and designed by Jouin Manku of Paris, “The Building” includes nine bedrooms, 21 bathrooms, a game room, ballroom, public reception area and chapel.

Instead of coming off like a space shuttle in disguise, the exterior is surrounded by fertile foliage to tone down the out-of-this-world look that might have happened otherwise. Outdoor amenities include a swimming pool and vast, breathtaking views. Private and guest parking are secured indoors.

Like a huge rock mined from the quarry then polished to an elegant finish, the kitchen island is statuesque. Minimalist furnishings of wood and natural stone are positioned elegantly throughout.

Privacy was part of the plan. So were three levels of living: the lowest section is for public gatherings, the ring is for guests, and the upper height is the family’s personal quarters.

Spherical steps put on display the natural curves overt inside and out.

More circular motion here. The round chandelier in the ballroom was created from “13,000 custom-designed undulating petals of unglazed cast porcelain biscuit.”

The interior views of the shell-like staircase and lower level are just as sweeping as those outdoors.
