Ogilvy & Mather’s Advertising Guangzhou office has become a workplace where “horsin’ around” is acceptable, even encouraged. Designer M. Moser flung caution to the wind and created like crazy around the theme, “Carnival of Ideas.” The non-work like environment has employees wanting to show up early! The office took one of the spots for China's Most Successful Design Award 2008, endorsed by FORTUNE China magazine and China Bridge International.

One of the world’s largest marketing communications companies, the agency’s owners wanted to stir their employees’ imagination and offer freshness in a new setting. Ogilvy & Mather’s moved from the heart of Guangzhou’s business section out to the Sha Mian district with views of the Pearl River, a more artsy and cultural side. That’s when the company transformed the indoors to match the neighborhood.

The central staircase offers a flow of amusement between the levels of the theme park setting. There’s a merry-go-round, life-sized nutcracker, large playful lettering and neon lights all throughout.

Michael Lee, one of Ogilvy’s chief operating officers, said even though some staff members have to drive twice the distance to get to work, they don’t mind because of the fun environment.
