Glowing Yellow Tree House Restaurant

Yellow Pages execs proved their point when they said you could find it all in the Yellow Pages. The company advertised that they were looking for a television presenter, project manager and restaurant operator all wrapped up into one. In this case, Tracey Collins fit the bill and got the job. Her challenge was to build something – anything - and find all of her resources in the Yellow Pages.

When Collins was given carte blanch with her project, she decided to really put the challenge to test. So, she came up with the idea to build a tree house restaurant. Constructed 10 meters high in a private forest, the magical Yellow Tree House Restaurant only took 66 days to plan, build and complete. Every crew member, including Pacific Environment Architects, builders NZ Strong and the Building Intelligence Group were all found in the Yellow.

The surreal, unforgettable conch with its body-whorl design is brilliant in the evening. Pencils of light filter outward in a warm amber glow. A natural treetop spire adorns the solid shell and the inner cavity serves as a platform for wining and dining guests.

Located in the Rodney District north of Auckland, the exact address is kept secret because it sits on private land. You are only given directions and an address after booking a table to dine. They serve lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, but you won’t be able to make reservations any time soon as they’re booked solid for the season.
