The Amsterdam Sodae House is an architectural marvel. Made of concrete and glass, the house appears to be a bit upside-down, both inside and out.

Designed by VMX Architects, the Sodae House looks a bit like a shuttle craft with vast windows in just the right places.

One of the unique interior features is that the private spaces of the house, like the bedrooms and bathrooms, are located on the ground level, while the kitchen and living room are suspended loft-style on the upper floor. Those upper living areas have a towering view of the remote landscapes, like the distant high buildings of the Zuid As and the Rembrandt Tower.

Interestingly, the exterior walls are set at odd angles, making the object as a whole look like it might topple over at any moment.

While the interior design is fairly straightforward, the angled outer walls create an interesting character to each room. The staircase is another object of intrigue and sits toward the rear of the house rather unobtrusively. From the upper floor, the staircase looks simply like a spiral half-wall and takes up very little space.
