Home-Designing.com zeroes in on the Propeller Island Lodge in Berlin, Germany, which is famous for its bizarre themed rooms. The hotel has about 45 rooms each styled with its own set of unique furnishings. Some of them are beautiful, all of them are odd! Three that stand out are:
- The Mirror Room
- The Therapy Room
- The Padded Cell
If you want to vacation in a room with beds that look like ships, dressers that look like old crates, and curtains that look like tattered sails, Disney World is planning just the getaway for you at the new Pirates of the Caribbean beach resort.

Conde Nast’s Portfolio.com has a slide show featuring 19 oddities. “Why stay in a ho-hum old mansion or dull former convent when you can lay yourself down in what was once a Turkish prison or a shoe factory? Thankfully, these eight hotels are far more luxurious than they were in their previous incarnations.” The oddness found here is perhaps more in the conversion of space from one use to another, but after the quirkiness of the grand tour above, this slide show will return you to a sense of normalcy, with a taste of luxury to boot.
