Leaf House by Undercurrent Architects is a gorgeous little hideaway on the coast of Sydney, Australia. Underneath this leaf-like covering lie twisted steel beams that suggest a resemblance to tree branches and its trunk. The outdoor pavilion, built as an addition to the residence, subtly blends with its natural views.

An idyllic place to sit and catch up on some reading, the translucent space surrounded by molded glass gives the illusion of being outdoors while shielded from the elements.

And beneath the open, above-ground area, a sandstone platform is divided into private rooms. Originally built as an artist’s studio, the configuration also doubles as a guest’s recoil and quiet-time getaway for the homeowners.

What a novel and charming design. Puts me in mind of Philip Johnson's classic glass house design - though much like the glass house I fail to see the practicality here. It's awe-inspiring sure, but you'd have to be pretty confident your neighbors were literally miles away if you want any privacy.
