Asymmetry at its Finest

Written by Jennifer Heyns

At first glance, this house in Garby, Poland looks like it could be a large white-striped barn. But at second glance, several unique features come into focus that make you wonder just what is this thing?

The private residence, designed by NeoStudio Architekci, is really quite marvelous to behold. The home appears as two structures with vastly different styles fused together into one.

The larger part of the structure, made of stone finish and comprising the majority of living space, has quite a mysterious aura about it. From different angles, you can observe numerous oddities about it. From one vantage point, it is evident that the pitch of the roof is higher in the rear of the home than it is in the front.

From yet another viewing, you’ll notice that the large window on the back of the home, which allows for vast amounts of natural light, as well as a magnificent view of the soft scenery, is an odd shape. It’s odd in its asymmetrical design, and yet features nearly the same profile as the symmetrical wall in which it sits, making it even more intriguing.

The interior is equally enthralling, with peculiar shapes and features throughout the white-gray home. So few houses could be so monochromatic and yet so mesmerizing at the same time. From the amorphous suspended light fixtures to the abstract art that appears to be drawn right onto the wall to the interior section that mirrors the exterior garage finish, there’s no end to eye-catching elements.
