Just outside of the center of Paris stands a children's sports center that is as amazing on the outside as it is on the interior. The Sports & Leisure Center by KOZ Architects exhibits all the colors of the rainbow – inside and out – to help children with spatial recognition. Not to mention wow the heck out of them.

In what was a very subdued section of Paris, the building offers a visual kaleidoscope that draws unmistakable attention – not just because of the rainbow façade, but also due to its dominant size.

The interior is formidable, with over 1,600 square meters of space broken up into different areas by function and color theme. While some designers are content to offer a standard floor plan that moves from room to room, KOZ Architects went above and beyond, working to create the flow from the inside out rather than from room to room. Each vividly colored section of the sports center corresponds to the colorful paneling on the exterior of the building.

What’s even cleverer is that although the outer structure is less visibly colorful at night, the interior lights provide a colorful display to the neighborhood after the sun goes down, giving the building a rainbow-like progression throughout the entire day.

The inspiration for such vivid design came from the building’s purpose – children at play. Children are naturally drawn to toys of bold hue, so the building was designed with that in mind. The colors are stimulating, inspiring and intended to keep the kids interested and active. Each room has a specific athletic purpose and color theme. Even the smaller areas like the washroom have been incorporated into the overall bright theme.

Although not exactly a tourist attraction, the Saint-Cloud sports center will certainly receive a lot of local attention.
