If you’ve got swimming pool plans on the brain, be sure to filter out the designs that don’t hold water. What’s emerging as the top trend in residential pools is the infinity-edge pool, usually situated right up against the house.
Infinity pools are unique in that they appear to have no edge. These in-ground pools are flush with the ground, landscape or patio and seem to have no end in sight. They blend with the design of their surroundings with no vivid tile work or grating cement to interrupt the aesthetic flow.
The reflectivity and grace of an infinity edge pool extends the scenic views from your home out into the landscape. Some of the most breathtaking endless pools overlook large bodies of water, giving homeowners the feel that the sea reaches right up to their doorstep.
Like the traditional variety, infinity pools have an infinite number of designs. Many are built right into the deck, patio or back stoop, and may be surrounded on all sides by these features. Some of the most exceptional designs, however, have the endless pool open to the landscape on the far side, giving it the feel of being a natural oasis in your own backyard. Others have added fountains, small trees at the corners and sculptured surroundings reminiscent of ancient Greek and Roman baths.
