A blimp is a free-flying aircraft. So what does that have to do with a skyscraper? A whole lot, if the ‘scraper itself is free-moving and its “flying rings” are formed in the absence of a rigid structure. Oh, and it’s a 24/7 party in the sky. Then you’ve got yourself a Blimp Skyscraper.

The proposed steel and glass hub will stand 984 feet high, nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower (about 81 stories). The six rings that look like inner tubes will be intermittently placed around the spherical center. Each ring’s diameter is planned to measure about three-quarters of the length of a football field. The circular rooms will be constructed of plastic casings filled with gas and formed only by a light steel structure, similar to the construction of a blimp. Even more blimp-like, the building will be transient so it can be moved from one city to another.

“Der himmel uber” is interpreted as “the sky/heaven over…” Heaven is the vision for Blimp Skyscraper, and the project’s commitment is to leisure time. The plan includes cafes, gardens and parks, pools and beaches, tennis courts - in fact, you name it, and this skyscraper has it on its radar.
