Some houses are designed for function, while others are for sheer entertainment. B House in Cuneo, Italy is among the latter. Damilano Studio Architects definitely had entertainment in mind when giving B House both the exterior views it enjoys, as well as the features within.

From the back of the home, vast scenic views of the Italian Piedmont Mountains offer distant beauty, while the ample deck and pristine pool bring splendor and fun closer to home.

From a bit of a distance, B House is a formidable fortress in white, but upon closer inspection, one can see the seamless incorporation of concrete, wood and glass. While its ground floor is obliterated mostly by a gated entry, the intrigue comes in the form of a void in the exterior of the house between the first and second floors. This void, more distinct at night through the focus of lighting, gives the home’s second floor the illusion of being suspended in mid-air with odd angles emerging from its sides.

Otherwise, the exterior of the home is very simplistic in style, not wanting to detract from the natural beauty that surrounds B House.

The interior is also full of mystery and intrigue. The colors are mostly stark and subtle, but with splashes of unexpected color, like in the case of the bright blood-red lilies.

The kitchen is an amalgamation of stainless steel and wood, with the cleanest lines running from counters to cabinetry to picture window. The dining area has two fabulous features vying for attention. One focal wall has been finished in stone with the most vivid, yet natural colors that make it difficult, but not impossible, to notice the very unique lighting fixtures that are suspended over the dining table. The fixtures are a scramble of white squares surrounding a bulb, scattering light in varying directions.
